The holiday season is upon us: a time for gatherings, gratitude, and indulging in foods that make us feel the comfort of home. Few flavors say “comfort” like the savory, mouth-watering allure of garlic bread. At La Brea Bakery, we’re celebrating garlic bread as a beloved staple for holiday get-togethers and sharing ways our artisan breads can help create memorable experiences around the table. So, let’s toast to the food that brings us together — starting with that first, irresistible bite.

With a homemade taste, texture, and aroma, our loaves, baguettes, rolls, rounds, and Take-and-Bake varieties save time without compromising on quality when preparing for holiday gatherings.

Tear-and-Share Garlic Bread Loaf
Made with just four ingredients, this simple and shareable garlic bread loaf will fill your home with irresistible aromas! Crush garlic cloves and mix into your favorite butter. Cut several slices into a La Brea Bakery Country White Sourdough Loaf, without cutting all the way through. Between slices, spread garlic bread and add a sprig of fresh rosemary. Bake until heated through and serve.
Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese
Garlic butter makes grilled cheese even better! Simply spread garlic butter onto one side each of two slices of La Brea Bakery Sourdough Loaf. Place bread butter side down in a pan over low to medium heat, add a mixture of shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, and top with the other slice of garlic bread. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
Simplify Your Party Prep
The holiday season is just around the corner. La Brea Bakery can help you prepare with tips and tricks to make hosting easier, less stressful, and more enjoyable as the host.
- Stock Up on Bread:
Portion out your bread and freeze it for a day or two. Thaw on the counter or bake from frozen at 350 degrees: 5 minutes for rolls or 10 minutes for loaves. - Freeze Desserts:
Cheesecake, pie, cake, and many other desserts can be made or bought ahead of time and thawed at room temperature on the day of your event. - Start Chopping Early:
Chop fruits and veggies a day or two in advance and store them in airtight containers in the fridge. - Keep Fresh Bread Fresh:
Place your bread in a paper bag or reusable bread bag. Avoid plastic as it holds in moisture, allowing mold to grow faster. - Don’t Throw Out Leftover Bread:
Save any leftover La Brea Bakery bread for use in some delicious next-day recipes. Revive slightly stale bread by placing it in the toaster. - Combine Décor with Delicious:
Make a crowd-pleasing Garlic Butter Bread Candle for your tablescape (see below).
Additional tips to stress less:
- Use a slow cooker or Instant Pot when possible for hands-off cooking.
- Don’t stress about cleaning every corner. Focus on just the areas your guests will see.
- Treat yourself like a guest — once the food is ready, relax and enjoy the company of your friends and family.
How to Make a Garlic Butter Bread Candle
Fun to make and to serve, a Garlic Butter Bread Candle will be the talk of your holiday gathering. It’s delicious artisan bread, savory garlic butter, and table décor – all in one!
How to make it:
- Whisk together a head of roasted garlic with a pound of softened butter.
- Cut a small hole in the bottom of two plastic, disposable cups (preferably without logos).
- Insert wicks into the holes, then fill each cup halfway with the garlic butter. Pull the wicks until the metal piece is flush with the butter. Cover and freeze for at least two hours.
- Prep a La Brea Bakery Tuscan Loaf by cutting two holes in the bread where the butter candles will be placed.
- Once the butter has hardened, cut the cups off of both candles and place them in the prepared loaf.
- Allow the butter to come to room temperature, then trim and light the wicks, allowing 30 minutes or so for the butter to soften and get warm.
- Carefully dip slices of La Brea Bakery French Baguette into the warmed butter and enjoy!
