Bratwurst with Caramelized Onions and Stone Ground Mustard on a Pretzel Bun
Ingredients
  • 2 La Brea Bakery Pretzel Bun, sliced lengthwise
  • 2 German bratwurst sausage
  • 1 cup caramelized onions
  • 2 tbsp stone ground mustard
  • 4 tbsp nacho cheese sauce (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for caramelizing onions)
Preparation

Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add butter. Add sliced onions and cook slowly for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and caramelized and set aside.

Next, preheat a grill or pan over medium heat.Cook the bratwurst for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and fully cooked through.

Slice the pretzel bun and lightly toast it in the same pan or on the grill for 1-2 minutes until warm and slightly crisp.

To make the sandwich, place the brat in the bun and then add mustard. Next, add caramelized onions and top with Nacho cheese if using. Serve immediately with some chips and an IPA on the side.
