This crispy, comforting, chicken Parmesan sandwich is a quick and easy way to enjoy an Italian favorite anytime.
Ingredients
- 2 slices La Brea Bakery Italian Round Loaf
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
- 3 slices fontina cheese
- 1 4-ounce chicken breast, grilled
- 3 to 4 fresh basil leaves
- 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flake
Preparation
- Add butter to a heavy-bottom pan over medium heat.
- While butter is melting, build the sandwich by placing one slice of bread on a flat surface. Top with ½ of the tomato sauce, a slice of cheese, chicken, basil, more tomato sauce, another slice of cheese, and the other slice of bread.
- Place in the pan with melted butter and cook until the bottom of the sandwich is golden brown.
- Flip the sandwich and top with the remaining tomato sauce and the last slice of cheese.
- Cover and cook until the bottom side is golden and the cheese on top is melted.
- Remove from pan, sprinkle with Parmesan and red pepper flakes, and serve.
